• An unforgettable evening, the roaring fire and the spectacular dance of the Northern Lights awaits you in the Aurora Camp, nearby a picturesque lake. The Aurora Expedition is made in comfort by bus. On the way, we stop to take photos at the rugged Lake Ukonjärvi, which was believed to be the home of Ukko the Overgod by the ancient Laplanders. From there, we move on to the Aurora Camp on the shore of the lake. In the camp, we warm up in a cozy hut by the fire, enjoy a warming drink while waiting for the Northern Lights to appear on the horizon. Grab a reindeer hide, lie down in the snow, and enjoy an unforgettable experience under the Northern Lights. If the evening is completely calm, you may even hear the whispers of the Northern Lights…

• Take a seat on the bus and soak in Lapland’s nocturnal landscape. We pass through the quiet village of Ivalo and the tiny village of Nellim, winding our way toward the sleeping border of our vast neighbor, Russia.

• Take a snowmobile through the nocturnal, snow-covered forest, far away from residential areas and their light pollution, as you ascend the silent, snowy fells. Surrounded only by the untouched wilderness, you’ll feel the magic of Lapland’s night settle in around you. And if the northern lights appear above, we will stop in the heart of nature to capture the moment with a camera, creating unforgettable memories beneath the glowing Arctic sky.

• Jump into the heated Aurora sleigh and relax! Your guide pulls the sleigh with a snowmobile through the snow-covered, moonlit landscape, all the way to the top of the fell, far from any village lights. Once there, we ready our cameras and capture the breathtaking northern night sky.

Make the most out of the opportunity to photograph the Northern Lights. During the photography workshop, you will learn all the tricks you need to capture the Northern Lights and the night sky in such a way that your photos are an accurate representation of reality.

• Ride through Lapland’s snowy fells and silent forests on a snowmobile, leaving the bustle of Saariselkä behind.
• Along the way, enjoy hot drinks, capture the beauty of the winter landscape, and maybe even spot a curious Siberian jay. All safaris include full instructions and an experienced guide.

• Minimum age for kids snowmobiles is 6 and maximum height is 155cm. Parents/Guardians are responsible for their children throughout the rental period as well as to assess whether this activity is suitable for their age, height and weight.

• Driving a team of huskies over the white, shimmering fells is an experience that is almost mandatory during a trip to Lapland. The eager dogs run at full speed and the sleigh glides effortlessly over the snowdrifts with the skids hissing softly.

• Searching for Santa is a magical and unforgettable Christmas adventure for both the young and the young at heart, set in the enchanting Northern Lights Village.
• Santa’s Elf will guide your family through a magical day that begins with baking gingerbread in the elves’ turf house. You’ll meet Santa’s reindeer and enjoy a short sleigh ride through the snowy forest before setting off on a heated sleigh to search for Santa’s hidden cabin. If you find it, Santa himself will welcome you for a private chat and a small gift.

• 1. Parents and guardians are encouraged to collaborate with Northern Lights Village staff to help create a magical and memorable experience for the children.
• 2. Please refrain from bringing personal gifts for Santa to distribute, as this could create an unfair experience for other children.
• 3. Prior to the experience, you will receive a questionnaire via email. This will allow you to share details about the children, enabling Santa to personalize the experience just for them.
• 4. Please note that upon arrival, the reception team will hand over an invitation letter from the Elves, to join them in their quest to find Santa!

• Jump on your skis and push ahead – soon you will be gliding on the snow like ancient Laplanders.
• Learn the basics of skiing with your guide, then glide along a forest trail to enjoy the winter beauty of Lapland.

• Snowshoeing is the closest way to experience the nature of Lapland. The deep snow crunching under the shoes, the snow-hooded trees, and the pearly-white willow grouse watching you from afar – the winter nature is a magical world of its own.

• Take a scenic drive from Ivalo to Inari with photo stops by Lake Inari. Visit the Sámi Siida Museum for an introduction to local culture and history, then browse a handicraft shop for unique souvenirs. After lunch at a cozy restaurant, walk to the snowy Juutuanjoki River to see its unfrozen rapids carving through the ice and snow.

• Visit the village of Nellim at the meeting point of eastern, western, and northern cultures. Travel to Finland’s northernmost border crossing and the Paatsjoki River Bridge with views into Russia, then explore the wooden Holy Trinity Church, a symbol of Skolt Sámi Orthodox heritage.
